Doing the right thing (sending Thank You Letters to every candidate that has ever applied to or interviewed for one of your jobs) feels good. While we didn’t invent the thank you letter, we did make them easy to send and both employers and applicants are speaking up.
“AWESOME! frickin’ awesome feature” – Executive, Scoopler
“Just wanted to let you guys know that I’ve sent out two thank you letters to “non responsive” candidates. Both of them got back to me the same day.” – Sr. Recruiter, SolutionStream
“I really appreciate your feedback! Almost all the time, I hardly get any reply back from the employers/recruiters I apply to for jobs. You’re one of the very few exceptions.” – Job Applicant, Newton customer
Thanks for send me a note to let me know where I stand. A couple of my co-workers are looking right now. I will suggest that they check out your open jobs. – Job Applicant, Newton customer
“I love it! I was able to send out all my Thank You Letters today -thanks” Recruiter, Relyon
“It’s nice when recruiting software can actually do some of my heavy lifting and at the same time provide such a high level of service to candidates. You guys built a double whammy” Sr. Technical Recruiter, Proofpoint.

Nice post. I wanted to leave a comment about my experience with this feature:
If you’re a job applicant, the only thing worse than bad news is no news, which is (unfortunately) rather common in recruiting. Of course, potential employers can easily make bad news worse by using an automated system that sends canned (impersonal) content to job seekers. From past experience (as an internal recruiter), one of the keys to smart recruiting is smart candidate PR (and that goes for all candidates, not just the ones my hiring managers want to interview today).
And that’s why I have found this feature to be invaluable: it’s efficient enough to enable me to handle large volumes of emails without losing my day doing it, yet it’s flexible enough that I can still create customized emails (to avoid alienating anyone with canned content). I feel like I have some serious firepower to handle what was once a very time-consuming task. And my productivity has definitely gone up using this feature!
I have been using this feature since it came out, which means I have sent out quite a few Thank You letters so far (throughout every stage of hiring) … and I’ve yet to have one person complain about getting an impersonal email from me.
Not one.
Kudos to the Newton Team for building such a quality feature!
